Stella Stella

The Look

Stella, a new yarn this season from S. Charles Collezione, glitters with 26% fairy dust (well, ok – it’s lurex) woven into 74% silk. Don’t wait for dark to wear this lovely metallic-look yarn. It is a terrific performer that can be knit plain, cabled or textured. The frosty lurex and luminous silk will make you the center of attention day or night.

The Feel 7

Smooth, silky and soft to the hand are just what you’d expect this yarn to be. A smooth micro filament lurex is as woven with multiple plies of fine silk into a yarn that is remarkably resilient and stout. This silk doesn’t wilt or collapse with knitting. It knits to a medium gauge of 20 stitches over 4 inches. The stitches naturally hold their shape and texture. The excellent textural detail, lurex glitter and silken luminosity fuse into an attractive surface for nearly any garment. Stella rates #7 on the softness scale.

The Patterns

A űber hip tank and chic vest in Stella are included in the new S. Charles Collezione collection, Bright Knits Big City. Simple lines, shaping lines and good fit are all that’s needed to create an eye-catching garment in this dreamy yarn.

Color Range

Stella is available in four metallic shades including Silver Mist, Stormy Skies, Champagne Fizz and Starry Night. These four neutral shades are ideal to complement any wardrobe.

Working It

Stella is soft, supple and a good knit. It doesn’t slip or slide around so that you have to corral it to make a stitch. On the contrary, it flows smoothly and readily from stitch to stitch. It maintains good stitch definition in an elastic knitted fabric. You’ll be pleased with ribbing, shaping and close fit you can knit in this resilient yarn.

What I’d Like to Make with It

Stella is perfect for a “basic” shell or simple all-occasion top. You could wear Stella by day or for a night out. Use it for an instant high fashion wardrobe update.

Knitting Outside the Box

Pair Stella with jeans or black for casual daytime city sophistication and understated elegance. You’ll look great in Stella whenever you wear it.

Blocking It

Lay flat to dry. Do not use heat to block.

Washing It

Hand wash in cool water.

Wearability

This well-constructed yarn is sure to give good performance. The fibers are strong and smooth. You won’t find broken strands of silk or frayed strands of silk lurex poking out of the surface of the knitting. You’ll be chic but not shabby in Stella.

Overall Recommendation overall 8

Add glam, glitz and glitter to your wardrobe. Try Stella. It rates #8.
