The Look Sirdar’s Click Chunky with Wool is a richly coiled rope of soft acrylic yarn blended with 30% wool. This traditional plied yarn has muscle. It will show off all your favorite textured stitches, cables, and ribbing. For easy care, you can machine wash this yarn, too. Use Click Chunky for jackets, coats, sweaters, afghans, scarves and accessories.
The Feel Click Chunky is soft, resilient and full of body. There is no scratchiness to this yarn. The wool content adds to resiliency and bounce, but there is no rustic wool prickliness in Click Chunky. The acrylic fibers are soft and stretchy; there’s no cardboard rigidity in this acrylic. Click Chunky rates #7 on the softness scale.
The Patterns Sirdar capitalizes on the excellent texture that Click Chunky delivers, providing patterns with lots of ribbing, cables and texture. Click retains shape and body, so it’s a good choice for day coats, jackets and cardigans. You’ll find patterns for adults and children from Sirdar or you can use Click Chunky in your favorite heavy weight yarn pattern. It's available in a wide array of colors and is value priced, too.
Color Range Sirdar produces Click Chunky in 31 colors, including marls, heathers, solids and neutrals. The spectrum leans toward muted tones preferred for wardrobe basics like cardigans and jackets, but the entire range is so versatile that you’ll be able to find the right shade for any project or taste.
Working It Click works up quickly at the recommended gauge of 14 stitches over 4 inches on US size 10 needles. This is a heavy weight yarn that has good tension so it knits into a flexible but firm fabric that retains its shape. Purl stitches stand out clearly against flat stockinette background, and the ribbing is cozily luxurious with this yarn.
What I’d Like to Make with It Click Chunky fills the bill for just about any bulky gauge project. You can use it for hats, scarves, cardigans, or afghans. I particularly like the stylish patterns provided by Sirdar. These patterns feature relaxed fit, contrasting texture and cable stitches, and updated necklines and closures. They are quick projects with just enough challenge to keep knitters interested and lots of style that will flatter any figure. The Click Chunky collection includes four of the best looking hats you’ll see. Three are based on a beret shape and the fourth is a lace and bobble toque with a flat top. If you haven’t tried a new hat pattern in a while, I strongly recommend you check out these good looking hats.
Blocking It Lay flat to dry. With 70% acrylic content in this yarn, too much heat could irreversibly damage the yarn, removing all resilience.
Washing It Click Chunky can be machine washed on a short gentle cycle using cool water and a gentle soap suitable for wool. This blended acrylic is not likely to shrink, but your knitted items will look fresh longer if you avoid over-laundering, too much detergent and hot water.
Wearability The plies are firmly spun in Click Chunky, is should not pill, or snag. The wool content will add resiliency, helping the knitting to bounce back into shape after wearing. Overall Recommendation Click Chunky is a quality yarn that delivers body, strong stitch definition and shape. I recommend giving it a try and rate it #8.
