The Look

Fashion Loop by SMC Select is a big bold yarn that attracts notice. Randomly dyed unspun singles yarn is folded into a loopy strand of cushiony yarn that’s a feast for the senses. Fashion Loop knits into a tight curly fabric reminiscent of prized Karakul lamb but in sparkling color. A compelling choice for stunning fall fashion, Fashion Loop is sure to grab attention and garner notice.

The Feel 9 softness

Fashion Loop is rich in texture — lumpy, bumpy, soft and silky all at once. It rates #9 on the softness scale.

The Patterns

Extra bulky yarns work best in classic straight simple shapes that are flattering and easy to wear. Casual vest tops in long, mid or short lengths can go anywhere and top off any outfit. Knit one in Fashion Loop to suit your body type; it could become your next wardrobe staple. For a trendier look, SMC designers combined Fashion Loop flower squares with a fine alpaca yarn to create a trendy shawl that could have stepped out of a retro 1970’s-era closet.

Color Range

Six colorways are available. Each includes richly dyed tones ranging from light to dark that arrange into a random blend when knit. The singles yarn folds into luminescent loops that reflect light and shadow handsomely.

Working It

Fashion Loop Bulky yarn calls for big needles, and Fashion Loop requires even larger, giant-sized needles in size 15 to 17. A few stitches are all that are needed to knit a large swath of fabric. Knit Fashion Loop to a relaxed gauge so that the loops fill the spaces. Fashion Loop is light and pliable; you will have to fight the impulse to knead your fingers into the silky soft loops.

What I’d Like to Make with It

Knit the SMC designed hooded scarf with long loopy fringe as a fashionable cover for cold winter days. If scarves are your passion, anchor a robustly textured scarf with a border of Fashion Loop.

Knitting Outside the Box

Consider Fashion Loop as a compassionate alternative to Persian lamb for collars, muffs, cuffs or hat brims. Edge a cardigan in Fashion Loop for a distinctive finish.

Blocking It

Lay flat to dry. Do not apply heat.

Washing It

Hand wash in cool to lukewarm water. Do not wring or squeeze. Allow water to drain, and then support the knitting as you lift it out of the bath. Roll in a thirsty towel to absorb excess moisture. This will prevent stretching.

Wearability

The loopy texture is firmly attached to the polyamid base and doesn’t unwind easily, but once pulled loose, it can unravel into long pulls. Although this is a remote likelihood, avoid snagging Fashion Loop and avoid pulling or tugging on any snags to avoid making the problem worse. If a pull does happen, carefully work it through to the back of the knitting.

Overall Recommendation: overall 8

Knit something dramatic and make a fashion statement with Fashion Loop. It earns a #8 rating.
